Insoft Joins BWH as Medical Director of the NICU and Respiratory Care Services
Robert M. Insoft, MD, FAAP, last month joined BWH as medical director of the Newborn Intensive Care Unit and Neonatal Respiratory Therapy. In this role, he will oversee the medical practices in the NICU and Newborn Respiratory Care Service.
“I look forward to working with a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and therapists to ensure our practice fulfills every current standard in the field of Neonatology,” Insoft said.
Through collaboration with various departments, including Newborn Medicine, Newborn Respiratory Care Services, the Newborn Intensive Care Unit, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Labor, Birth and Recovery, Pharmacy and Nutrition, Insoft will ensure that all newborns receive the most comprehensive, up-to-date treatment and care.
Insoft currently is chairman of the Section on Transport Medicine for the American Academy of Pediatrics. In conjunction with local and national collaborators, he also will continue to pursue his research on the safety and effectiveness of newborn inter- and intra-facility transport.
Insoft earned his MD from Boston University School of Medicine and has been on staff at several Partners HealthCare hospital affiliates during his career. He joins BWH from MGH, where he served as the medical director of the NICU and Neonatal Transport Team.
