BWH Tobin School Fund/United Way Campaign Kicks Off
The hospital’s annual campaign to raise money for United Way and the Tobin School Fund kick off on September 23 this year and will run through October 25.
BWH will place an emphasis on participation this year, according to Karen Nelson, executive director, Clinical Compliance and Risk Management and co-chair of the United Way/Tobin School Fund Committee.
“This is a unique year in that we have dealt with a lot of tragedy and the economy is suffering,” explained Nelson. “We’d love to surpass last year’s goal and are focused on more employees giving even a small amount.”
To help increase participation among BWH employees, the campaign will accept all weekly paycheck donations, even those of less than $1. Money raised for these funds support a wide variety of programs. United Way touches 1 in 3 people in our communities throughout Massachusetts, whether it’s helping to provide quality child care, after-school programs, job training or elder care. And the Tobin School Fund supports summer camps, field trips, professional development, and donations of school supplies for the neighboring elementary and middle school.
“I support the United Way and Tobin School Fund because it is a way of giving back to the community in which I live and work,” said Nancy Kruger, DNSc, RN, vice president, Patient Care Services and chief nursing officer. “Nurses provide vital support to its patient community already. By giving to one or both of thesefunds, their care can have an even more extensive reach.”
