Press, Ganey Scores Show Modest Gains, Losses
BWH physicians continued to receive scores in the 80s or low 90s on Press, Ganey inpatient satisfaction surveys, as overall mean scores for the most recent quarterly report for January to March showed modest declines across the board, save one category. Courtesy and attentiveness of the house staff increased slightly to a mean score of 88.4 over the previous quarter.
Overall, approximately 2,190 inpatients responded to the Press, Ganey satisfaction survey, giving overall skill of BWH physicians a mean score of 94, which places the hospital in the 95th percentile when ranked among teaching hospitals with 500 beds or more that use Press, Ganey.
Hospitalwide, BWH continued to receive top marks from inpatients for admission and tests and treatments. The hospital saw modest gains in January though March from the previous in two sections of the inpatient satisfaction surveys as patients gave BWH mean scores of 85.8 for admissions and 86.1 for tests and treatments. Compared to October through December of last year, BWH posted modest declines in nine survey sections.
BWH last quarter received an overall mean score of 84.3, which is 2.3 points higher than the mean score for teaching hospitals with 500 beds or more that use Press, Ganey, and that score places BWH in the 79th percentile in that category. Additionally, BWH continued to receive high scores as when asked about cheerfulness of the hospital, patients gave BWH a mean score of 86.4; asked about staff working together to care for you, 88.9; likelihood of recommending hospital, 91.0; and patients gave BWH an overall care mean score of 90.3. The last two survey scores rank BWH in the 96th percentile or better among 500-bed teaching hospitals that use Press, Ganey.
