Gibbons Joins BWH Nursing Leadership
Trish Gibbons, DNSc, RN, joined BWH as associate chief nursing officer and executive director of BWH’s Center for Nursing Excellence effective May 1. “Trish brings more than 40 years of nursing and health care experience to BWH as an experienced leader and a dynamic teacher,” Mairead Hickey, PhD, RN, chief nursing officer and senior vice president of Patient Care Services, said. “I am confident she quickly will prove to be an asset to BWH’s senior leadership team and a compelling advocate for nurses.”
Gibbons earned her bachelor of science in nursing from Boston College and went on to earn a master’s degree and a doctorate in nursing administration from Boston University.
She has extensive leadership experience as vice president for Nursing at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut, chair of the Department of Nursing at New England Medical Center, chief clinical officer for the Visiting Nurse Service of Southern Maine and vice president of Patient Care Services and chief nursing officer at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Gibbons plans to expand BWH’s collaboration and partnerships with schools of nursing and develop a program to unify and augment nursing research at BWH.
