In This Issue:
During these challenging times brought on by the events of September 11, it is important for all BWH staff to continue to work collectively to fulfill our mission to provide the best care for our patients with the utmost professionalism.
BWH, like most large institutions across the city and nation, has experienced security-related concerns over the last few weeks. When incidents occur, they are thoroughly investigated by BWH Security, Administration and local public safety authorities. To date, no credible threats have been found.
Understandably, heightened concern remains in some areas, such as the mailroom. For these employees, BWH has provided extensive support from Security, Occupational Health Services and EAP to address department specific issues and needs.
As we move forward in a changed world, we must safeguard the security of our patients, colleagues and the institution while upholding the highest professional standards. All staff can play an important part in this effort. Every employee should wear their identification badge at all times and report any unusual events to Security. Should additional events or concerns arise, please follow the instructions of Security. When the “all clear” code is broadcast, be assured that the area is completely safe for your return.
In addition, over the next few weeks, institution-wide changes will be implemented to tighten overall access to the BWH campus. Staff who have concerns related to their specific work areas should speak with their manager who can direct them to the appropriate resources for assistance. Employee cooperation and resolve during these trying times has and will continue to move our institution through this national time of uncertainty.
