On Saturday October 27, the Friends of Brigham and Women’s Hospital held their 20th Anniversary Annual Meeting and Celebration. Honored at the event were members of the Friends who have been with the organization since its inception in 1981.
Peter M. Black, MD, PhD, was the featured speaker of the celebration event. He discussed the advances in Magnetic Resonance Therapy (MRT) and its application in neurosurgery at BWH. Lisa Weiss, a patient of Black’s, spoke about her BWH experience. Ferenc Jolez, MD, conducted tours of the MRT and discussed other applications for MRT usage. The celebration ended with refreshments and a jazz reception in the Cabot Atrium.
Since 1980, the Friends have funded over $5 million in services and equipment to various departments of the hospital. For more information on upcoming Friends programs and events, contact the Friends office at ext. 2-8125 or via email (bwhfriends@partners.org).
