September1-5 Ready, Set, Donate!
The BWH Blood Donor Center has challenged the MGH Donor Center to a friendly competition to see who can get the most employee participation in their respective blood programs over a three week period (August 28 - September 15). A new “Challenge 2000” t-shirt will be given to all employees as a thank you for their time and effort. A plaque will be given to the winning Donor Center. For hours of donation or more information, call Linda at ext. 6288.
Tax-Deferred Annuities Looking to save on taxes now and put money aside for retirement?
The 403(b) tax-deferred retirement savings program (TDA) offered through BWH provides you an opportunity to do both. September 6 On My Own Time 2000 Information Table
11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Cafeteria Entrance Staff are invited to share their hobbies and interests with colleagues in the On My Own Time 2000 showcase. Information on how to enter the showcase will be available on September 6, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at a kick-off table at the entrance to the cafeteria. The event will take place on October 25-26 in the main lobby at 75 Francis Street. September 15 Benefit Time Cash-Out Forms Due
Staff and employees eligible to cash out benefit time (minimum of 100 hours accrued in BT bank) must return forms to the Payroll Department by September 15. Cash-out forms will be distributed with the September 7 timesheets and paychecks. BT Cash-out hours do not count toward the BT requirement for the fiscal year. BT requirement hours must be taken by September 16. An employee's BT requirement is indicated on their check stub as BT REQ. Cash-out forms should be signed by your supervisor and returned to the Payroll Office, Neville House, 3rd Floor by September 15. Checks will be distributed on September 22 or directly deposited into bank accounts forthose with direct deposit.
September 16 Women’s Health Forum 2000: Mothers, Daughters, Sisters, Friends: Health Issues for Women of All Ages
9 a.m.-4 p.m. Westin Copley Place Treat yourself—and your mother, daughter, sister or friends—to a motivating day of health information, empowerment, health screenings and fun. Keynote speakers are Susan L. Taylor, editor-in chief, Essence Magazine; and Ann Richards, former governor of Texas. Luncheon speaker is Robert Barbieri, MD, chairman, Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, BWH. Achieving Balance: Employee Assistance Program Work Life Seminar Series
September 29 12-1 p.m. Thorn Conference Rooms B and C Most of us have to meet several demands and juggle conflicting responsibilities. Balancing home, family, and work can be overwhelming at times. This seminar will help you identify strategies for prioritizing your responsibilities and satisfying your various roles. September 23 American Heart Walk
10 a.m. (Registration at 9 a.m.) Lederman Field, Charles River Esplanade Join your fellow BWH employees on Saturday, September 23 for a noncompetitive healthy 10K/6.2 mile walk (1 mile and 3 mile alternate courses will be available).Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. on the day of the event. Also, please join us for the Kick-Off Rally on Friday, September 8 at 7:30 a.m. in the Food Services conference room (located next to Pod B of the cafeteria).
