Surgeon Francis D. Moore Jr., MD, has been appointed to the position of Chief of the Division of General and GI Surgery for the Department of Surgery. Moore has been a senior surgeon at BWH since 1990 and was an associate surgeon from 1983 to 1990. Moore also completed his surgical residency at BWH. Paula Gillette, RN, BSN, MSN will join BWH on September 18 as director of Women and Newborn Nursing and Clinical Services. In her new role at BWH, Gillette will oversee the nursing operations and participate with the clinical leadership team in strategic planning for women and newborn services. “As the leading birthing center in New England, we are very excited to have Paula join our team. Her experience and expertise in women’s health will be an invaluable asset to us as we continue to design care and services to meet the needs of patients and families in the Connors Center for Women’s Health,” said Mairead Hickey, vice president, Women’s and Specialty Services. Gillette joins BWH from Long Beach Memorial Medical Center in California. There, she was the executive director of the Women’s Hospital. Although the majority of her career is rooted primarily on the West Coast, Gillette is not a stranger to Massachusetts. She served as a staff nurse for two years at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and completed nursing school in Boston.
