BWH has been ranked second for diversity in health care systems by Diversity Inc., the leading source of information on diversity management. The ranking is based on a number of factors, including CEO commitment to diversity and a diverse workforce and management.
“We’re proud of this ranking” said Myron McCoo, JD, interim vice president of Human Resources. “This recognition comes to us after an intense examination of our workforce demographics.”
BWH’s workforce is 35 percent Black, Latino, Asian and American Indian and 70 percent women, Diversity Inc. officials noted in their official announcement.
“We’re proud of our diversity and inclusion programs, and we are committed to ensuring that our workforce is reflective of our population and the community that we serve,” McCoo said. “We will continue to spearhead diversity inclusion programs for race, culture, gender, orientation, disability and age.”
Also in the top five this year was Massachusetts General Hospital, which ranked third on the list. Henry Ford Health System in Detroit took the top spot.
