Governor Deval Patrick has been visiting health care organizations throughout the state to discuss his proposed bill for employee health cost control. Last week, he spent a morning at BWH’s Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center.
Patrick met with hospital, community health and primary care leadership, as well as representatives from Partners HealthCare and the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers, before touring the community health center and greeting staff.
“We tried to convey to him all that we do in a community health center,” said SJPHC executive director Tom Kieffer. “We also want to be part of the solution on cost control, and we described how our work across BWH Primary Care to adopt the Patient Centered Medical Home model will contribute to both quality improvement and lower costs. He seemed very interested in our mission and work, particularly in our youth programs.”
