BWH opened the 2011 fiscal year by recording all-time high patient satisfaction scores in the areas of Nurses, Tests and Treatments, Visitors and Family, Physicians and Discharge. All ten categories on the Press Ganey Inpatient Satisfaction Survey either maintained a high score or scored even better than during the first quarter of fiscal year 2010.
“Our continuous improvement and placement among top hospitals is a testament to the commitment of staff throughout BWH to provide patient- and family-centered care,” said Michael Gustafson, MD, MBA, senior vice president for Clinical Excellence.
The most recent quarterly report summarized data from 2,126 survey responses received between October and December 2010. Overall, BWH ranked in the 93rd percentile when compared with like-size teaching hospitals that use Press Ganey.
Other highlights of the 2011 first quarter report include high scores in the categories of Discharge and Visitors and Families, both of which increased their rankings to the 86th and 91st percentile when compared to 500-plus bed teaching facilities.
Nurses’ and physicians’ scores also continued to receive high marks, placing in the 99th and 98th percentile respectively.
