National Preparedness Month Tips from FEMA
Hurricanes can cause catastrophic damage to coastlines and inland areas. Change in Massachusetts Gift Ban Law
While the state gift ban law was recently changed to allow an exception to its prohibition on gifts, the Partners policy still prohibits meals and all other gifts to Partners employees from pharmaceutical and biomedical companies and vendors or potential vendors. BWH Patient Safety Culture Survey
On Oct. 22, BWH employees whose work directly impacts patient care will be asked to complete a survey to assess BWH’s culture of patient safety. The confidential survey will be distributed via e-mail with a link for online completion and will help leadership determine any employee safety concerns and provide valuable feedback. Responses will help BWH continue to advance the culture of safety throughout the institution.
Discovery Channel Documentary Showing
“Surfing the Healthcare Tsunami: Bring Your Best Board” will be screened on Oct. 4, at 5:30 p.m., in the Shapiro Breakout Room. The hour-long documentary addresses the global crisis of safety in health care and features Chief Quality Officer David Bates, MD.
Faulkner Hospital Name Change Effective Oct. 1
Faulkner Hospital will be renamed Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital as a way to reflect the ever-increasing integration of the hospitals. First references to the hospital should be written out. Additional references can be abbreviated as BWFH. Read more at BWHPikeNotes.org.
Domestic Violence Awareness: Do No Harm
