You might say that Gerald Topping, Lani Kuzia and Julianne Savarese of BWH Real Estate, Planning and Construction are like the glue that brings all pieces of the Shapiro Center together.
They collaborate with hundreds of physicians, nurses, administrators and others, acting as liaisons to the contractors, designers and medical equipment manufacturers. Topping, Kuzia and Savarese assess the needs of the groups who will occupy the building and ensure that all equipment is state-of-the-art and fits appropriately in the design.
“When we put together a new patient room, for example, numerous parties are working on various aspects of the room,” said Topping, project manager for Partners Real Estate and Facilities. “It is our job to interpret and integrate their requests in obtaining the appropriate equipment and coordinate with our design and construction team to make sure that space and infrastructure will be in place to support its operation.”
Kuzia and Savarese, both assistant project managers, have spent time during their tenure at Partners leading the building of patient floors, managing user requests for changes, operations and making certain that all medical equipment is compatible.
“The work we do is much more meaningful because we are supporting the larger Brigham team in providing the highest level of care to our patients.” said Savarese.
