The 12-person recruitment team in Human Resources has been working especially hard this year to attract top talent from the local and regional communities to fill openings in the Shapiro Cardiovascular Center and elsewhere in the hospital.
In the past four months, HR has hosted five open houses on nights and weekends, drawing about 1,000 attendees. “These open houses yielded nearly 200 talented new hires for positions in the Shapiro Center and open positions that we need to fill in the Tower,” said Melissa Farrelly, director of Recruitment.
Each open house focused on a select group of candidates: Pharmacy, OR, Support Services, General Nursing and Radiology and Imaging. Recruiters for these areas are D’Anza Cox, Natasha Purtz-Abasciano and Tim Lydon for Nursing; Andrea Boozer and Corinne Kelton for Pharmacy; Boozer for Radiology and Imaging; and Leanne Sparrow and Ed Weeks for Support Services.
In addition to these seven recruiters, all of BWH HR remains focused on bringing in top talent. “It was all hands on deck, and we certainly all pulled together as a team to fill these positions in addition to our ongoing recruitment efforts,” Farrelly said.
HR collaborated with the hiring managers for these five areas to send the right message to bring in the right hire at the right time. Many of the new hires already are beginning their training at BWH so they are up to speed when the Shapiro Center opens.
