Though the Annual Neurology Conference, “Entering the Mind Zone: 2002,” was moved across the river to the Charles Hotel in Cambridge this year, the content was just as engaging, if not more so, than usual, according to organizers. Some 150 nurses from throughout New England attended the June 20 event that brought them the newest information and education on such topics as neuroimaging, interventional neuroradiology, seizures and spinal cord injury, among other topics.
In addition to a welcome by Nancy Kruger, DNSc, RN, vice president, Patient Care Services, and chief nursing officer, speakers included a variety of BWH physicians and surgeons.
Sharing expertise and education in nursing and physician-assistant practice during afternoon break-out sessions were Shaun Golden, BSN, RN, CNRN, and Sheila Harms RN, BS, CPTC, “Stumbling Blocks to Organ Donation”; Martha Griffin, PhD, RN, “Fighting Marginalization: Confronting the Nursing Shortage”; Martha Jurchak, PhD, RN, and Deborah McDonnell BSN, RN, “End of Life Care in the Neuro ICU”; Angela Roddy Kanan, BSN, RN, MRINeuro Imaging and Surgery in the Open Magnet”; and Matthew Budway MD, “Acute Spinal Cord Injury, What’s New!”
