Guidelines for Lily Kravitz Nursing Studies Award
The BWH Center for Excellence in Nursing Practice is pleased to announce that applications are being sought for the 2002 Lily Kravitz Nursing Studies Award. Arthur Kravitz, MD and his family established this award to acknowledge the nursing profession and its tradition of caring. Named in memory of his mother, the award provides financial support of up to $2,500 annually for nursing studies that contribute to the art and science of nursing practice.
The Kravitz award has grown a tradition of nursing research at BWH that has helped to advance patient care in a variety of specialty areas. These research projects include: “Deciding to withhold/withdraw life-sustaining treatment from incompetent adults following unanticipated, catastrophic illnesses: A phenomenological study of Haitian surrogate decision makers' experiences,” Carolyn Hayes, PhD, RN; “Development of a Questionnaire to Measure Socio-Economic Acuity for Ambulatory Patients,” Rebecca Reed, MS, RNC; “IV Therapy Workload Measurement System,” Sharon Kohler, RN; “Organizational Restructuring and Newly Employed Staff Nurses in Professional Practice: A Longitudinal Study,” Pat Reid Ponte, DNSc, RN; and “Telephone Follow-Up for Breastfeeding Support After Discharge from the NICU,” Kathleen Howard, BSN, RN and Maureen Allen, BSN, RN.
