Michael Lage, RN, night shift nurse-in-charge, Emergency Department, was chosen by the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residents to receive the Emergency Medicine Nurse’s Award. Lage was selected based on his clinical excellence, work ethic, pride in the department and understanding of the unique challenges of dealing with physicians-in-training. Additionally, he was honored for bringing out the best in young physicians at all levels of training. “Michael is incredibly deserving of this award,” said Nathan Mick, MD, chief resident, who noted that selecting one nurse is no easy task in a department filled with so many excellent veteran nurses. “In the environment of the Emergency Department, where seconds can literally mean the difference between life and death, it is imperative to have nurses that are calm and can get the job done. Michael exemplifies these qualities to the utmost.”
