Can you carry a tune? Do you tickle the ivories or strum the guitar in your spare time? Two new programs have been established to enable BWHers to show off their artistic talents.
You may have noticed a piano tucked inside the Cabot Atrium near the patient waiting area. A generous gift from an anonymous donor, the player piano is programmed to play soft, soothing music throughout the day. Volunteer Services and the Office of the President are also inviting employees and volunteers to sign up for a time slot to play the piano in the atrium at their convenience.
“You don’t have to be a concert pianist to play in the atrium,” said Trishia Lichauco, chief of staff for the Office of the President. “We want to offer a place for our staff to showcase their talents while also providing comfort for those in the waiting area.”
And, as part of a larger program, those with other artistic talents are encouraged to display them at monthly BWH Arts in the Atrium events. During these sessions, employees can sign up to sing, play an instrument, display their artwork or read poetry. The first event is Dec. 15 at noon.
