Respect, advocacy, compassion and mentoring. These characteristics are embedded in patient care units up and down Francis Street. And BWHers routinely go above and beyond in patient care, so much so that their peers and managers nominate them for a BWH Starfish Award.
In July, the Starfish Awards Committee recognized 14 BWH staff who, in one form or another, exemplify the best attributes of patient care. The Starfish winners and dozens of their family members and BWH peers gathered July 13 for the quarterly awards reception.
“We know everyone here at BWH is deeply committed to excellent patient care, but it's our Starfish winners who continuously go above and beyond in their compassionate care delivery,” said Kim Ternavan, RN, nurse manager, Tower 7AB, and chair of the Starfish Awards Committee.
Initially launched in 2000, the Starfish Awards were revamped this year. Additional information and nomination forms are available online at www.bwhpikenotes.org under “hospital information” in the “awards and recognition” section.
