Hand hygiene is the single most effective action to prevent infections. This week’s JCAHO tip: Good hand hygiene is essential to reduce the risk of health care associated and acquired infections. Clean your hands with Purell if no gross contamination is present. When your hands are visibly soiled or if you are caring for a patient with c. difficile, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. For all staff providing patient care, fingernails should be cut to ¼ inch length. Artificial nails are prohibited.
