In This Issue:
Domestic abuse is a frequent occurrence in society today and is the leading cause of injury for women ages 25-44. It affects women, children and men of all ages and in all demographics on a daily basis. Hospitals, like BWH, are on the front lines of the battle against domestic violence. The services provided by the advocates at BWH provide a safe-haven for victims and give them the support they need to step out of the confines of abuse.
Passageway provided a new service to victims this year. The program sponsored a creative arts group where the victims were encouraged to journal their survival experiences with writing and photography.
In FY 03, the advocates worked with 539 individuals and logged over 8,400 service contacts. For assistance, page Passageway at beeper #31808 or call ext. 2-8753.
