National Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week
March 12-18 is National Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week. More than 30 million Americans suffer from chronic lung disease and millions more with other conditions that affect their ability to breathe. This week recognizes those caregivers, who provide patients with the tools necessary to improve their breathing discomfort and increase their level of activity. As part of the National Emphysema Treatment Trial (NETT), the BWH Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center is the only Medicare-designated clinical center in New England for lung volume reduction surgery, a procedure undergoing clinical trial for treatment of emphysema. The center also offers monthly support groups. For more information, call Pulmonary Rehabilitation at ext. 4757.
