Amy Brown Soto, RD, CDE, a senior dietitian and certified diabetes educator in the Department of Nutrition for 26 years passed away on February 5th following an accidental fall. Amy was the first dietitian to provide nutrition counseling for the patients and families in the Brigham’s evening Spanish Clinic—a position she had held since 1977. Amy first came to the Brigham in 1974 after she graduated from Framingham State College’s Food and Nutrition Program. During her first years at the Brigham, Amy worked in the food service area and became an assistant manager. Amy then participated in a Dietetic Traineeship program within the Hospital and achieved her national certification as Registered Dietitian in 1980. Amy was a staunch advocate for her patients and was active in community programs including the domestic violence task forces. Amy was well known for her ability to cultivate harmonious professional relationships. She was a caring and compassionate educator. A memorial service is planned for March 15 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Chapel at 75 Francis Street. A reception will be held following the service in the Dietary Conference Room, Tower second floor.
