Free trial MBTA pass
As part of its effort to reduce drive-alone commuting to the Longwood Medical and Academic Area (LMAA), CommuteWorks is offering a new program to allow participants to try public transportation for free (up to $65 per month) for a three-month period. The discount is available to all employees who are registered to park in the LMAA. CommuteWorks will pay up to $65 of the cost of a monthly T-pass, which allows a person to ride the MBTA’s subway, commuter train, or bus by showing the pass. In addition, participating employees who normally drive to work will not pay for their parking space during the trial period, but parking spaces will be reserved and available after the three months are over. For someone who normally parks on campus, that’s a savings of $160.68 for three months (for the parking space) plus $65 in free T-passes for three months, for a total of $677.04 saved. For more information or to sign up for the trial period, call David Straus at CommuteWorks at 632-2796. Space is limited.
