BWH President Gary Gottlieb joins this year’s AMMP scholarship recipients Jennifer Fils, Regina Harvey, Cynthia Tanaka, Patricia Bernard, Stephanie Gonzalez, Sania O’Leary, Kerri Ann Jack and Sanettra Ferguson.
With the awarding of eight scholarships last week, the Association of Multicultural Members of Partners (AMMP) is helping BWHers further their careers in medicine, research and management, among other health care careers.
“I am very thankful and honored to receive this scholarship that helps me financially to continue pursuing a nursing degree and gives me the opportunity to be an active member of AMMP and part of its mission,” said Cynthia Tanaka, data manager for GYN Radiation Oncology.
As a way to promote the advancement and development of multicultural professionals into leadership roles, AMMP annually awards $1,000 scholarships for employees pursuing college degrees or certificate programs. The eight awardees received their scholarships and a certificate from BWH President Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA, and Angela Crutchfield, director of HR’s Organizational Development & Learning, during a ceremony in the Shapiro Breakout Room.
For Patricia Bernard, the scholarship is a stepping stone to a better career, and she hopes it will inspire others to pursue their dreams.
“Even if you have too much on your plate, there are many opportunities out there. It’s just a matter of organizing your life and then organizing school according to your schedule at home,” said Bernard, a certified nursing assistant who is studying nursing at Roxbury Community College.
AMMP is a volunteer employee network organization made up of employees from BWH and Partners HealthCare System.
