Colleen Burns Hernandez was named director for program development for Brigham and Women’s and South Shore Hospitals Clinical Affiliation in October. In this role, Burns Hernandez works closely with BWH and SSH administration, as well as chiefs and department administrators to develop and manage the specific joint clinical program initiatives and the renewal of the existing agreement.
Formerly the director of Surgical Services operations and program development, Burns Hernandez led a broad range of program development and operational initiatives across surgical services and imaging, including the OR Smoothing Project. She also assumed administrative responsibilities for the Weiner Center for Preoperative Evaluation.
Prior to that, Burns Hernandez was director of program development for Surgical Services, where she was instrumental in leading multi-disciplinary teams in perioperative services through the planning and successful opening of 16 new operating rooms in the Shapiro Cardiovascular Center.
A former Deland fellow and physical therapist at BWH, she earned her bachelor’s from Dartmouth, a master’s in physical therapy from Boston University and an MBA from Georgetown University.
