At the second annual IN Party last month, the whimsical red and blue boxes that served as centerpieces emphasized the reasons more than 400 people came to the Intercontinental Hotel to celebrate BWH’s community health programs. Thanks to the generous support of guests, the event raised more than $1 million for community health.
The night’s theme was support produces positive results. One colorful box read: $350 pays for a wig for a woman with breast cancer. And, during a video presentation, guests also learned that 98 percent of graduates of BWH’s Student Success Jobs Program enroll in college after high school.
“The co-chairs for the 2009 IN Party, Rob and Karen Hale and Glenn and Sarah Ordway, were instrumental in the success of this year’s event, beating all goals in a very difficult economy,” said Bill Florentino, BWH director of fundraising events. “This year’s chairs built upon the success of the 2008 event that was chaired by Scott and Heidi Schuster and Carmine and Beth Martignetti.”
BWH President Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA, reaffirmed the hospital’s dedication to helping people in need. “We work tirelessly in these communities that are kind enough to be our host,” he said. “I pledge that we will continually strive to do more good, and serve more people.”
