John Buckley, Food Services lead cook, and Kathy McManus, director of Nutrition, kick off the Heart Healthy Cooking Demonstration series.
Food Services’ lead cook John Buckley demonstrated how easy it is to prepare toasted quinoa pilaf, a healthy grain choice, at last week’s cooking demo. The event kicked off the bimonthly Heart Healthy Cooking Demonstration series, hosted by the departments of Nutrition and Food Service with the Division of Cardiology. JoAnne Foody, MD, donated the demo cooking cart with help from a grant, and Skanska USA Building, donated the cart’s stainless steel hood, both instrumental in making the Heart Healthy Cooking Series a reality.
Nearly 35 employees, visitors and patients attended the first demonstration in the Shapiro Cardiovascular Center’s Miller Atrium. Don’t miss the next demonstration July 8 at 2:30 p.m., which will look at the DASH Diet as a way to reduce hypertension.
Stay tuned to This Week @ BWH broadcast e-mails and BWHPikeNotes.org next week for details.
