During this year’s Bike Week in May, 112 BWHers registered, marking the first time any institution in the Longwood Medical Area has had more than 100 people register.
The BWHers were among 483 employees and students from 20 MASCO institutions pledging to bike to the LMA at least one day during Bike Week, May 11 – 17. LMA participants biked an average of eight miles a day, four days a week, for a total of about 15,250 miles.
“This year’s Bike Week was a great success, thanks to the many employees who participated,” said Robert Chicarello, director of Security and Parking for BWH. “We hope this fun event helps encourage people to ride their bikes to work on a regular basis.”
Participants also were invited to several events, including the Bike Week Bash and a breakfast in the Longwood Medical Area.
