Michelle Rheaume of Development made it a point to hit Shop on the Pike on its opening day last month. “It’s fabulous,” she said. “It’s well-lit and inviting, and I plan to do lots of my holiday shopping here.”
Rheaume was among hundreds who were excited to see what the shop had in store when it opened on Dec. 15 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. “It’s a beautiful shop,” said Lisa Ponton, JD, vice president of Human Resources. “The amenities it offers will make BWH an even better place to work.”
The shop carries a wide assortment of BWH logo apparel, including fleece jackets and hooded sweatshirts, as well as photo frames, shoulder bags and mugs. The shelves are stocked with Vera Bradley handbags and accessories, Dansko clogs, children’s clothing and toys, Fastachio brand nuts and chocolates and much more.
“We are very excited about this shop as a feature for patients, visitors and staff,” said Art Mombourquette, vice president of Support Services, who thanked Jennifer Nadelson, director of Clinical Services Operations, and Gift Shop manager Gabina Camacho for their leadership in opening the Shop on the Pike. “We received great input from patient and staff focus groups while developing the store layout and products for sale.”
Employees, patients and visitors streamed into the shop after the ribbon-cutting, perusing the card selection, sampling food items and enjoying a 10 percent discount on opening day.
Patrick Lally, who joined BWH last month as manager of Retail Services, a new position at BWH, oversees the Shop. “We were very pleased with the turnout and hope that people continue to Shop on the Pike,” he said.
