The nearly 300 employees of Security and Parking are like family. With one of their own, Security Training Manager Ben Drude, serving overseas in Iraq with the U.S. Marines, the department invited his girlfriend Brie Cersosimo to their third annual awards recognition dinner earlier this month.
“We wanted her to know that we’re thinking of her while Ben is away,” said Bob Donaghue, operations manager for Security and Parking.
The team outfitted Cersosimo with a jacket, hat and gloves, all emblazoned with the BWH logo, and presented her with flowers.
The highlight of the evening was the awards presentation, during which Security and Parking honored a group of employees. For Parking, James “The Jokeman” Green was named Valet of the Year; Alemash Hailu took home Cashier of the Year; and Jesus Robles picked up the Supervisor of the Year Award.
For Security, Dorsay Roberson was Dispatcher of the Year; Katie Raftery, dispatcher, received a Special Recognition Award; Deborah Nicholas, concierge, and Robert Celado, officer, tied for Officer of the Year; and Sergeant Shawn Foster was honored as Supervisor of the Year.
Security and Parking recognized Officer John Guy, Concierge Herb Caldwell, Specialist Thomas Albrecht and Specialist Mario Sanchez as MVPs for off-site, first shift, second shift and third shift, respectively. Long-term employees also were recognized for their years of service.
“Through inclement weather and difficult conditions, our Valet and Security teams work to ensure that patients, employees and visitors are safe from the time they arrive at the hospital to the time they depart,” said Robert Chicarello, director of Security and Parking. “We thank the teams for their dedication.”
