Letters of Thanks
To the Tower 8 Nurses:
I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to the staff of 8 CD for the highly competent and compassionate care that they deliver every day to our Cardiac Surgery patients. The longer I am in this field, the more I appreciate the expert and caring contributions of our nurses and their support staff. I particularly acknowledge the contributions of the ICU nurses in the care of our patients, and, most especially, their going beyond the call of duty to provide care to the patients, their families and the physician staff in some very intense and challenging circumstances. The Tower 8 nursing staff has been one of the very best features of my first year at BWH.

To the nurses in Radiation Oncology:
I was a patient receiving radiation, both interior and exterior, during February and March. I was particularly impressed with the kindness I received from the nurses and technicians. My nurses were just the best. I appreciated their caring manner and down to earth attitudes with just the right amount of humor. They really helped me keep perspective of what I was experiencing. They were essential to my sanity and courage. They were the perfect antidote to my fears and trepidation, and their gentle humor and positive attitudes made all the difference to me.
To BWH:
Thank you for all of your help in arranging Hospice and also all the things that went along with getting my nephew home and cared for. It was very important to him and the rest of us that he was at home for this next transition and we are grateful that it was able to happen and for your help in the coordination of it. Also, on a personal note, I want to thank you for doing it all without what I call the “pity eyes.” You looked us all straight in the eyes and dealt with the situation in a way that didn’t make us feel as if you were feeling sorry for us. You showed compassion without sympathy, and for that I was very grateful and found it easy to talk to you. We have met many of doctor, nurse, coordinator, etc in the past 2.5 years and have walked away each time with a strong opinion of each person and when you left the room yesterday my nephew said as quickly as the door shut, “I like him a lot,” and we all agreed.
To Sarajune Dagen, RN, Neurosurgery:
When I was at BWH for neurosurgery, Sarajune stepped in and took charge…the caring and dedication she displays in every aspect of her job is nursing epitomized. She puts her heart and soul into her work, and the result is unparalleled. Not only is she an extremely competent clinical nurse, she travels that extra mile to make each patient feel personally cared for. She is a wonderful reflection of the quality care that the Brigham as capable of offering each patient.
