On September 27, Peggy Wallace, RN, MSN (pictured, center), president of the Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing Alumni Association, and Andrea Crisafulli, RN, BSN (left), vice president of the Alumni Association, presented a $10,000 check to Mary S. Fay, MS, RN (right) for the Center for Excellence in Nursing Practice.
“Brigham and Women’s Hospital is fortunate to have an active and strong Nursing Alumni Association, which has championed this important initiative throughout its beginning stages,” said Fay, who is executive director of the Center.
Research conducted through the Center for Excellence in Nursing Practice is already underway (see page 11). These efforts will enhance the care of patients and families at the hospital. The research and educational opportunities offered through the Center will advance the practice of nursing and provide professional growth for BWH’s nursing staff.
In 1912, when the Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing opened its doors to its first five students, Carrie M. Hall created a new standard in nursing practice – a standard that emphasized educational growth and professionalism. At the outset of a new century, the Nursing Center is setting a new benchmark for nursing education.
“The Alumni are proud to support the Nursing Center, which will carry on the tradition of the Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing to promote excellence in nursing,” said Wallace.
