Ask Yourself: “What do I need to know about BWH’s Disaster Plan?”
BWH refers to a disaster alert as Code Amber. There are two kinds of disaster alerts, “internal” and “external” and three phases of alerts. BWH has a detailed Disaster Plan so that staff may respond quickly, efficiently and safely to either types of disaster. Find the Disaster Manual in your work area as well as on the BWH Intranet (www.bwhpikenotes.org/emergencymgmt) and learn your role during Code Amber. You can view and print Disaster Manual files from this site.
Visit www.bwhpikenotes.org/jcaho/default.cfm#countdown to learn more about this topic and any other “Countdown to JCAHO” articles as mentioned in issues of BWH Bulletin.
From now until the January 2004 JCAHO Survey, a weekly on-line “Ask Yourself” article series will be available at www.bwhpikenotes.org It is important for all staff to familiarize themselves with the content of these articles and to be prepared to answer related questions from a JCAHO Surveyor during the Survey.
