Michele Helgeson, MPH, CNM, has been named director of BWH's Midwifery Group. She began in January.As director, Helgeson leads the program's 18 midwives and works closely with the CWN associate chief nurse and nurse directors, the Chief of Obstetrics and other leaders and administrators. She also sees patients at Whittier Street Health Center and performs deliveries at BWH. Prior to assuming the role at BWH, Helgeson worked as a staff nurse-midwife, associate nurse leader and program coordinator for Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates at BWH, Newton Wellesley Hospital and Dedham Medical Associates.Helgeson received her nursing degree from Middlesex Community College, her certificate in Nurse-Midwifery from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and her MPH from Boston University School of Public Health.
