Boston has seen no shortage of snowstorms or inclement weather this winter. When the weather is poor, visibility for pedestrians, drivers and bicyclists can be greatly reduced. Factoring into the equation are existing traffic congestion and construction equipment filling the area around BWH, creating a landscape for potential accidents.
BWH reminds you to be alert and aware while walking, driving and biking around the hospital, in Longwood Medical Area and beyond. Safety cues involve hearing, sight and sensory perception, so be on the lookout for traffic lights, walking signals and verbal instructions from police officers. Obey signals while walking and driving, and use the crosswalks while crossing the street.
If you're bundled up in a hood, hat or earmuffs to keep warm, or if you listen to music while walking, your vision and hearing may be impaired, so be extra cautious and alert in your travels.
It takes everyone's effort to keep everyone safe.
