Myron S. McCoo, JD, director of Human Resources, has been selected to serve as interim vice president. In this role, McCoo will assume responsibility for leading all areas of HR for the hospital.
“I am grateful to Myron for stepping into this role, and I am confident that he will serve the BWH community well in this interim period,” said Mairead Hickey, PhD, RN, executive vice president and chief operating officer. “In the coming months, Myron will lead us through several important initiatives, including our follow-up work on the Employee Opinion Survey. In addition, Myron is committed to ensuring that we continue to attract, retain and develop the best possible workforce.”
A lawyer by training, McCoo began his career working for the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and his Office of Labor and Human Resources in Washington, D.C. McCoo then began working in the HR Legal Department for GTE, where his focus was advising the organization on employment issues.
McCoo also worked for the Human Resources team at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics (UWHC) in Madison, Wis., as a senior Labor and Employee Relations consultant, as well as the Diversity officer. At UWHC, McCoo led the hospital’s diversity initiatives, which included the creation and implementation of a five-year diversity strategic plan.
McCoo received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas-Austin, his master of theological studies degree from Harvard University and his law degree from Indiana University-Bloomington.
