The Kessler Health Education Library launched a series of seminars to help patients, their families and BWH health care providers double-click their way through the often unwieldy world of consumer health databases.
“You really need to know your way past Yahoo and Google to get the most accurate and comprehensive health information that's out there,” Cara Helfner, Kessler Library program manager, said. The library hosts monthly classes focusing on different health themes and showcasing various BWH, Partners HealthCare System and national consumer health databases.
Michelle Eberle, MSLIS, consumer health information coordinator for the National Library of Medicine, leads this month's seminar on searching the MedlinePlus.gov database for brain-related materials. March is Brain Awareness Month. That class is March 30 at 9 a.m. at the Kessler Library. Anyone interested in these classes should e-mail chelfner@partners.org or call 2-8103.
