BWH's continued excellence in patient care delivery, operational efficiencies and fiscal responsibility helped land a coveted spot on Solucient's annual 100 Top Hospitals: National Benchmarks for Success roster. As reported in the Feb. 28 issue of Modern Healthcare, BWH is one of only two hospitals to appear on this list ten times. The list has been in existence for 12 years.
To identify what organizations make the list, Solucient, an Evanston, Ill.-based health care information company, compares hospitals based on size and teaching status using an assortment of performance measures, such as mortality and infection rates, average length of stay, operating margins and cost per discharge. BWH rated highly on each, ranking among the best major teaching hospitals in the nation.
“The entire BWH family should take great pride in this accomplishment,” said Kate Walsh, chief operating officer, who explained that BWH's performance levels of quality of care, efficiency, financial performance and community service serve as benchmarks for others across the nation.
