Patients are raving about the BWH Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services provided at Faulkner Hospital. There, medical director Hilary Goldberg, MD, respiratory therapist Priscilla Perruzzi, RRT, clinical supervisor of Pulmonary Rehab, and senior exercise physiologist Meghan Pronovost, MS, CEP, collaborate to improve quality of life for patients with COPD and other chronic pulmonary disorders.
Below, read an excerpt from the letter of one patient, Elaine Vieira, who has made great strides in breathing techniques and endurance.
“This program offers so much, starting with the wonderful support and experience of Priscilla Perruzzi and Meghan Pronovost. Participants also receive the multitude of medical benefits the Brigham and Women’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Faulkner Hospital has to offer. But most importantly, participants receive newfound hope and a new way of living, which has been great for me!
Four months ago, there was no way I could get up the stairs without struggling, never mind try to complete an exercise routine after getting up three flights of a very steep staircase. Now I ascend the stairs with no problem and then I am able to proceed with my home exercise program with endurance, enthusiasm and ease.”
