Last month, 50 junior researchers gathered in Cabot Atrium to present their most recent research while vying for one of five Research Excellence Awards that provide $1,000 to cover research related expenses. Funded by a philanthropic gift from the Partners Research Accelerator Program and hosted by the BWH Biomedical Research Institute, the event offered an opportunity for young investigators to showcase their research through a competitive poster session.
“This year, we introduced live judging to add an element of excitement,” said Jacqueline Slavik, PhD, executive director of the BRI. “We’re planning to hold another session this fall and hope to see similar interest on the part of the young investigators.”
BRI Director Cynthia Morton, PhD, and BWH President Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA, presented the awards to Karla Evans, PhD, Chiara Grisanzio, MD, Salil Anil Lachke, PhD, Margaret McLaughlin-Drubin, PhD, and Iman Schultz, PhD.
