Colleen Burns Hernandez was promoted to director of Surgical Services Operations and Program Development last month.
In this expanded role, Hernandez leads a broad range of program development and operational initiatives across surgical services and imaging. She also assumes administrative responsibilities for the Weiner Center for Preoperative Evaluation.
“I am excited about this new opportunity, and look forward to continued work with the dynamic teams within Surgical Services,” said Hernandez.
In her previous role as director of Program Development for Surgical Services, Hernandez was instrumental in leading multi-disciplinary teams in perioperative services through the planning and successful opening of 16 new operating rooms in the Shapiro Center. This included leading the complex planning efforts for state-of-the-art image guided surgical suites.
“This promotion reflects our recognition of Colleen’s demonstrated accomplishments and leadership capabilities,” said Sanjay Pathak, vice president for Surgical Services and Imaging.
A former Deland fellow and physical therapist at BWH, Hernandez also spent several years as a management consultant focused on health care strategy and planning. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth, a master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Boston University and an MBA from Georgetown University.
