BWH mourns the loss of Brandon Jakle, a caring husband, father and dedicated member of the Biomedical Engineering Department, who died Jan. 5. He was 33.
“He was a total team player who delivered service with a smile,” said Kerrie-Ann Jack, administrative assistant in the Biomedical Engineering Department.
Born in Boston, Mr. Jakle worked as a biomedical equipment technician at BWH since July 2006.
Mr. Jakle loved his work and spending time with his family. He also was committed to helping people in need. During the holiday season in December, he helped his department organize a fund raiser for victims of domestic violence. Every Christmas, he asked his son to pick out toys that they would donate to needy children.
Mr. Jakle also enjoyed working on electronics, particularly in building customized speakers from scratch, said co-worker Matt Beagan, biomedical equipment technician. “Brandon had a talent for building things.”
Mr. Jakle’s colleagues also recalled his sense of humor and outgoing personality.
“He loved people and sometimes he would stay past his shift just to keep talking to them,” said Cynthia Hargrove, senior tech team leader in Biomedical Engineering.
Mr. Jakle received his bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Boston University and his master’s degree in electrical engineering from San Jose State University.
He is survived by his wife, Jill, 4-year-old son, Aiden, and 7-month-old daughter, Ella-Rose.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Brandon R Jakle Family Assistance Fund, Bank of America, One Brigham Circle, 1614 Tremont St., Roxbury, MA 02120.
