Partners HealthCare and BWH salute the all stars who went to bat last month for Boston’s oldest anti-poverty agency, Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD).
A total of 23 physicians, nurses and other health professionals from BWH and MGH played in the 10th annual Field of Dreams softball game at Fenway Park to support ABCD’s SummerWorks program. This program provides jobs, education, mentoring and tutoring for low-income, at-risk Boston teenagers.
Partners HealthCare Community Benefit Programs provides funding for the event, which has raised more than $1 million for fuel assistance, daycare, job training and other anti-poverty programs over the past decade. Although Partners lost the game to DMB Financial, the real winners were the teens who will be employed through SummerWorks.
Led by Patrick O’Gara, MD, the BWHers on the team included Michael Mufson, MD, Brian Dunlea, RN, Ed Bromfield, MD, Elizabeth Taylor, RN, Fred Resnic, MD, Denise Ricci, RN, Mel Crotty, RN, Kevin Loughlin, MD, Michael Davidson, MD, Don Bienfang, MD, and Craig Nesta.
