Dora Araceli Tovar of the Center for Cardiovascular Disease in Women took first place in the Healthy Smoothie Recipe contest for her delicious strawberry-cranberry smoothie.
Her recipe, which won her three sessions with a personal trainer at Fitcorp, was one of four to make it to last week’s finals, judged by BWH President Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA, Chief Operating Officer Kate Walsh, Chief Nursing Officer and Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services Mairead Hickey, PhD, RN, and Vice President of HR Lisa Ponton, JD. The contest was sponsored by BWH Wellness Works, the hospital’s health and wellness program for employees.
“We were pleased with the number of submissions that met the nutrition guidelines,” said Maryellen Cotter, NP, director of Occupational Health and program coordinator for Wellness Works. “The contest was a fun way to get folks thinking about healthy recipes just in time for the summer smoothie season.”
