BWH showed a strong turnout in the BWH-MGH Blood Donor Challenge 2000, with 306 employees volunteering and 232 donations of whole blood and platelets collected. However, 449 employees volunteered and 388 donations were collected at MGH, making that hospital the winner of the challenge. The BWH Blood Donor Center would like to thank all the employees who took time out of their busy schedules to volunteer for blood donation. Although BWH “lost” this friendly competition, the hospital’s patients have still “won”—the donations that were made will ensure that, despite a seasonal blood shortage, numerous patients will still be able to receive the gift of life. If you are interested in giving blood, please contact the Blood Donor Center at ext. 6620.
