Nurse educator Mary Pennington, has been awarded a Massachusetts Nurses Foundation Master’s Degree Scholarship. Pennington is currently obtaining a Masters in Nursing at the University of Massachusetts (Boston), where she is enrolled in the Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist program.
At BWH, Pennington serves as a nurse educator for three neuroscience units and two telemetry surgical units. She is responsible for developing educational programs for the nurses’ professional growth. Some of her efforts include a Neurological Update Series, Vascular Update Series and ongoing critical care classes. Pennington also organizes an
annual Neuroscience Conference at which nurses and physicians present on such topics as cerebral vasospasm, stroke mimics, infectious diseases and coma.
The MNF is a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering the education of nurses through research, awards and scholarships.
