I am pleased to report that thanks to the efforts of all of our staff and employees, Brigham and Women’s Hospital has once again secured accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of HealthCare Organizations (JCAHO). I’d like to extend my gratitude to each of the nurses who worked so diligently to prepare the hospital for this challenging and intense process.
In one of the most exhaustive reviews in recent history, the JCAHO team surveyed BWH during the week of January 22. In their subsequent report, surveyors commented on the positive impact that BWH’s multidisciplinary patient care teams had on patients and their family members and were also impressed by the consistent teamwork exhibited on the Tower pods and Connors Center units.
With the final report due within the next two months, there are still areas we can continue to focus on for improvement. But, overall we are extremely pleased with the results of the survey and owe our success in great measure to the efforts of nurses throughout the organization.
Thank you once again for your collaborative efforts and exceptional teamwork during the JCAHO survey and other challenging endeavors that have come to define what being a BWH nurse is all about.
Sincerely,
Nancy Kruger, DNSc, RN
