Dear Colleagues:
This year’s staff survey will be shorter and the feedback more focused to the department level. As a result, action plans will be localized, simple and targeted. However, themes across the full organization will also be addressed on a wide-scale basis. The feedback received from physicians on the last two Staff Surveys has been important. As a group of staff comprising nearly 20 percent of the staff at BWH, physicians’ feedback is imperative. In addition to physicians completing this important tool, medical support staff have also participated in teams assembled to work on areas of improvement as identified by their peers.
You will find that the length of the survey has been tailored to the physician’s schedule. Since the 2004 survey has been streamlined, it will take less time to complete than the
2001 survey. In addition, an on-line survey will again be available as another source of convenience.
In this process, confidentiality is protected and your feedback will be acted upon in a timely manner. As always, other members of the physician leadership and I encourage you to provide candid open remarks in addition to responding to the standard survey questions. All collective feedback will be taken into consideration in our action planning process and will be important going forward in this decade of change.
Sincerely yours,
Lawrence H. Cohn, MD
Chairman, BWPO
