Sinclair Joins BWH as VP of Clinical Services
Julia Sinclair, a former Deland fellow who has held leadership posts at Massachusetts General Hospital, joined the executive leadership team at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in late April as vice president of Clinical Services for the departments of Medicine and Emergency Medicine.
“Julia brings a wealth of talent and years of experience to this position,” said BWH President Betsy Nabel, MD. “We look forward to her joining our team and sharing the gifts of her leadership to help us build on a foundation of success and achievement in these distinguished departments.”
At MGH, Sinclair served in key posts for the last two decades, most recently as the executive director of Emergency Services and Emergency Preparedness and, prior to that, as director of Admitting and Registration. She completed BWH’s Deland Fellowship program in 1990, an experience she said inspired and guided her along her career path in academic medicine.
“I am thrilled to return to BWH where the commitment to patient- and family-centered care is second to none,” Sinclair said. “Both the departments of Medicine and Emergency Medicine have talented teams of skilled and compassionate clinicians, dedicated educators and brilliant researchers, and I welcome the opportunity to join them.”
After receiving her BS in biology at McGill University in Montreal, Sinclair went on to Concordia University in Quebec for graduate study in health care administration and completed her master’s of business administration at Boston University. Her medical career began at Montreal Children’s Hospital and, from there, she joined BU’s health care management program as a research assistant.
At MGH, she was a leader in the redesign of the Emergency Department, both in care process and space allocation, and she oversaw development of the hospital’s emergency preparedness plan. She has been an active member of the community as a board member of Boston MedFlight and a co-leader of the medical team for the annual AVON Breast Cancer Walk.
“Her commitment and dedication to serving patients and their families weaves seamlessly into the fabric of our mission and the values of our community,” Nabel said.
